As well as he has been playing recently, Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis had the best game of his young career tonight.
In an overtime win versus the Celtics, Davis scored 40 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, both of which are career highs, and added three blocks, three assists and a steal. If you play in FanDuel daily basketball leagues, he finished with 76.7 fantasy points tonight.
As the first player this season with a 40/20 game, Davis is only the 12th player since the 1985-86 season to have such a performance.
Based on data from Basketball Reference, three players have had multiple 40/20 games since 1985-86: Shaquille O'Neal (four), Charles Barkley (three) and Patrick Ewing (two).
Over his past six games, Davis has five double-doubles with the exception being a 36/9 performance against the Blazers on March 14th.
During that six-game span, Davis is averaging 32.33 points, 14.33 rebounds, 3.00 blocks, 2.83 assists and 0.83 steals per game. In addition, he has scored a minimum of 28 points in each of those six games.
Davis and the Pelicans play next on Wednesday against the Raptors.
